Business Cards for Priscilla Clendenning

Last week, I finished a business card project for Priscilla Clendenning. She needed a business card that incorporated all three of her businesses, so here is the design solution I came up with:

Organized Refrigerator: Part I

I can't believe it has taken me almost two years to do this (well, actually I can believe it being busy with college full time, work full time and now a mommy full time), but I found the time to begin organizing our refrigerator. It really needed it. So I think I may split this post in a few parts; starting with the fruit/vegetable drawer. Our apartment didn't supply us with a modern, organizable, double-door fridge, so we make do with what we have.
the bad before:

The bagged fruits and vegetables were thrown inside the drawer. It was difficult to quickly grab what we needed.

the wonderful after:

I went to the Dollar Tree and spent $3 on three storage containers. I placed the bins inside the drawer side by side to seperate the fruits and vegetables. One bin stores the pre-washed and cut foods inside our glass containers; it conveniently cuts the time in half when preparing meals.

I have opened and closed this drawer at least 50 times since Saturday (to make sure I wasn't dreaming). If you are dealing with this same unorganized mess, you have to try out this simple/inexpensive solution. It will make you smile :)

Hannah & Josiah

I'm very happy to say that we enjoyed our continuation of Hannah and Josiah's engagement session earlier this evening. Thanks to semi-warmness, overcast weather (thank you, God), and an extremely happy couple, I'd say I'm left with too many nice photographs than I know what to do with!

Organized Spices

My first attempt at organizing our spices was by placing them inside a large container and labeling the tops of the lids. This worked extemely well for a few months.

But as I tried out several new recipes, our spice collection grew like crazy. They outgrew the container and were soon being stored on two shelves. Spices were laying sideways and it was almost impossible to select a spice out without another one falling out of the cabinet.

I was inspired by magnetic spice containers, and the idea of storing the spices on the refrigerator looked like fun. I rarely purchase items for organization because I love finding new uses for materials I already have, but I decided these containers were well worth it. I purchased them here.

I made labels for the lids, attached magnets to the bottom of each container, and filled each one with a spice. They add color to the kitchen, and they're located next to the counter where I usually prepare our dinners. Easy to access, I love this idea :)

Spring Wreath

Spring brings forth newness, warmness, and prettiness. I love the colors, the leave buds, and the singing birds :) To bring some of this to our home, I thought a spring wreath would make a nice addition to our front door. It's simple and definitely not perfect, but what beats affordable and homemade?

On the first night, I wrapped blue yarn around the wreath. I also combined the blue yarn with yellow and white. This took a very long time (think 3 hours) because it continued to get tangled, and due to my perfectionism, I had to make sure each string stayed in order...glad that part is done.

On day two, I finished the wrapping with the combined yarn.

Tonight, I added some buttons, fabric, jute, and paper flowers to the wreath :) Fun stuff.

I put together this string of words that says, "Our Happy Nest," to finish it off, but I'm not sure whether I like it or not. I think it might add to much. You can see how it looks with and without the words in the photos below :)

Please let me know what you think :) Do you think I should take "Our Happy Nest" off or leave it on? {You can reply on the right sidebar or leave a comment of course.} Thank you :)

Okay, so after several votes of "Leave 'Our Happy Nest' On," I left it on! :) Thanks for your vote.
